1.1 Statement of Programme Aims, Objectives and Learning Outcomes
Information on Benchmarked Standards
1.1.1 State the aims,
objectives and the learning outcomes of the programme. How are these aims,
objectives and learning outcomes made known to the department’s internal and
external stakeholders? Who were consulted in developing the aims, objectives
and learning outcomes of the programme?
Programme Aims
• Preparing students to search
in the explanation of Qur’an, its sources, its methodologies, the ranks of
Mufesserin and the sciences of Quran.
• Developing students’ awareness
and adherence by gaining knowledge about the meanings of Qur’an.
• Qualifying students with the
practical and behavioral skills which are needed to communicate with the
society so that they can be able to convey the basic meanings of Quran the
values of Islam and practice them.

• تهيئة الدارس للبحث في التفسير وأنواعه ومصادره ومناهجه، وطبقات المفسرين
وعلوم القرآن.
• تنمية قدرات الوعي والالتزام لدى الدارس من خلال تعرفه على معاني القرآن

Programme Objectives:
• Qualifying students to be
specialist researchers in studying Tafsir and Ulum al Qur’an, its sciences and
the ways it was narrated and taught.
• Enriching the Islamic library
with innovative researches in Tafsir and Ulum al Qur’an.
• Developing the social,
interactive and Dawa (invitation) skills for the graduators by adhering to the
manners and the sciences of the holy Quran.

• إعداد الدارسين، ليكونوا من الباحثين المختصين في دراسة التفسير وعلوم القرآن،
والمتخصصين في المعرفة بجميع علومها رواية ودراية.

• تحقيق القدرات الدعوية والتفاعلية والاجتماعية لدى الخريجين، من خلال التزام

The vision and mission statement, and educational goals were developed
taking into consideration the various crucial elements of the process and
outcome of higher education. With this program, MEDIU will definitely be
involved in teaching, learning, and research activities that will disseminate
the knowledge, as well as new findings, in field.

1.1.3 Provide the justification
for the proposed programme. How does this programme fulfil the market needs and
contribute to the social and national development? How does this programme
relate to other programmes offered by the department?
The science of Interpretation and al-Qur`an sciences are considered the
methodological and intellectual bases of all the Islamic sciences, they are not
concerned with a certain aspect of life, but they cover all aspects. Although
these sciences focus mainly to get the meaning of the al-Qur`an and what it
gush from the al-Qur`an of the various sciences since dismounted to all ummah.
These sciences such as analytic interpretation, topical interpretation, sources
of the al-Qur`an interpretation, fundamentals of al-Qur`an interpretation.
These sciences serve a large segment of society at various levels of students,
scholars, preachers, they need all these sciences very much. Because these
sciences can help them in contribution to welcome the needs of the country in
terms of preparing of scholars specializing in this discipline and to care for
community. And can help them to develop the spirit of scientific research and
intellectual independence. And also can help to develop sense of belonging to
the country and sense of responsibility.
As a result of this development, the Islamic library of al-Qur`an and Its
Sciences became abundant with many references, books and researches, which
require a great effort that first caters for accommodating this great al-Qur`an
and Its Sciences heritage, saving and restoring it when the need arises. Given
that, the huge facilities provided by the scientific revolution in the fields
of contemporary sciences and modern technology will much help the scholars of
al-Qur`an and Its Sciences in shouldering this great responsibility and carrying out their duties.
Accordingly, Al Madinah International University took the initiative to
facilitate a deep methodological study of the fundamentals of al-Qur`an and Its
Sciences and other related areas. In order to do that, Al Madinah International
University did not only found the al-Qur`an and Its Sciences Department,
Faculty of Islamic Sciences, which offers "al-Qur`an and Its Sciences and
Islamic program," but it also established the master program of Tafsir and
al-Qur`an Sciences, offered by The Faculty of Post Graduate Studies. By making use of the scientific and technical
progress witnessed in this era, the Faculty of post graduate studies made it
easy, for those who finished their degree in al-Qur`an and Its Sciences and
wanted to continue their post graduate studies, to promote themselves and get
deeper knowledge in Sharia sciences through the application of the scientific
and technical development witnessed by humanity in this age,
There is no doubt that choosing Malaysia to be the springboard for Al
Madina International University and its faculties with their various programs,
much reflect the uniqueness of this Muslim country in terms of its cultural
diversity and its interaction with the modern civilization. Being conducted in
Malaysia, the master program in Tafsir and al-Qur`an Sciences gives more
transparency and validity that are enough to address all human beings, calling
them to Islam, by setting a practical comprehensive model that makes use of the
technical and scientific account of knowledge obtained in this era.

1.1.4 How does the programme
aims, objectives and learning outcomes incorporate issues of leadership, social
responsibility, scholarship, community involvement, ethical values and
professionalism?
The programme delivery method will require students to work closely with
their lectures and supervisors and to engage themselves in research pertaining
to Tafsir and al-Qur`an Sciences.
Therefore, in doing the research they have to communicate with various
experts and parties while collecting data, analyzing the data and making
conclusion about the research. At the end of the programmes, each student will
have to write and defend research papers. The whole exercise will involve
issues of leadership, social responsibility, scholarship, community
involvement, ethical values and professionalism. The study requires a student
to have a critical thinking and academic ability in order to refer the words
and ideas to their original sources.

consulted -- and the degree of their involvement -- in both the formulation and
periodic review of programme aims, objectives and learning outcomes.
Those involve in formulation and periodic review of programme aims,
objectives and learning outcomes are the experts in the area of Tafsir and
al-Qur`an Sciences. Their involvement will include formulation, assessment and
continuous monitoring and make the necessary improvement from time to time.

1.2.1 State the programme
learning outcomes according to the level of study based on the following eight
MQF learning outcomes domains:
i. Knowledge
Gradual provide the students with deeper knowledge and prepare them as
researcher for a more in-depth scientific study to higher levels in the field
of Tafsir and Al-Qur`an Sciences.
ii. Practical skills
Provide student with the correct knowledge principles in the field of
Tafsir and al-Qur`an Sciences. These principles will help the graduates to
carry out constructive woks in their respective communities.
iii. Social skills and
responsibilities
A correct understanding of field of Tafsir and al-Qur`an Sciences will
equip the students with a full set of social skills and the right sense of
responsibility.
iv. Ethics, professionalism and
humanities
Creation of a generation of graduates in the islamic science, specifically,
in Tafsir and al-Qur`an Sciences equipped with a clear understanding of ethical
and professional responsibility.
v. Communication, leadership and
team skills
An ability to communicate effectively to successfully carry out the tasks
related to their project and case studies.
vi. Scientific methods, critical
thinking and problem solving skills
An ability to use the skills, techniques, and contemporary tools necessary
to study and carry out their research.

1.2.3 Show how the achievement
of the learning outcomes are measured.
The learning outcomes are primarily measured on basis of the final exam
(individual paper) and on basis of coursework that may consist of quizzes,
homework, tests, individual/group projects, and individual/group assignments.
The learning outcomes are measured in a range of areas: Knowledge and
understanding, Skills, Attitudes and values, Enjoyment, inspiration, creativity
and Activity, behaviour, progression.
All learning outcomes must be met by the student to pass a particular
course. A student not meeting the learning outcomes required may be offered a
second chance, according to MEDIU’s policies to show that those learning
outcomes are met by attending to the shortcomings.
1.2.4 Describe how the learning
outcomes relate to the existing and emergent needs of the profession and the
discipline.
