HORSE
Physical description
The horse is a large mammal of the equine family. He has a mane and a tail whose hair is called horsehair. The color of the hairs and horsehair constitute his dress. It can have very different colors, but the most common colors are the bay (the coat is red, while the mane, the tail, the outline of the ears and the bottom of the limbs are black), the chestnut ( hairs, hairs and extremities are more or less dark brown) and gray (hair is light, skin and eyes are very dark). Some horses have a white mark at the bottom of the leg called balzane.

The size of the horses is measured from the withers, the part of the body located at the junction between the neck and the back. Some ponies do not measure more than 50 cm, while other breeds can reach 2 m. As for the weight, it is 500 kg on average. But some horses can weigh more than a ton.
His place of life
Wild horses live in deserts, mountains, forests, plains and valleys. Domestic horses are found in stables and pastures outside.
His diet
The horse spends most of its time feeding. He eats small amounts of food on a regular basis throughout the day. It is a non-ruminant herbivore. It feeds largely on grasses found in pastures or hay. In addition to this, the domestic horse needs cereals (oats, corn, barley, etc.) and supplements such as soy or vegetable oil. He also drinks a lot of water, about 40 liters a day.
His reproduction
Horses are ready for breeding at 2 years old. The females, called mares, give birth after 11 months of gestation a small called foal, able to get up and run less than an hour after birth. Around the age of 2 or 3, the foal separates from his parents to form his own descendants.
His life expectancy
The lifespan of a horse ranges from 25 to 30 years.
The cry of the horse
The cry of the horse is called neigh. He usually neighs to talk to other horses or to express strong emotions.
Particular signs
The horse is able to go into light sleep while standing, blocking his legs. This ability allows him to quickly flee from danger.

It also has a very fine hearing that allows it to predict earthquakes, perceive ultrasound and detect predators.
