The mollusc is an invertebrate animal

Molluscs are invertebrate animals whose bodies are soft, such as the octopus or the slug. Many molluscs are protected by a shell, like the snail or oyster. The differences, like the shell, depend on the group in which the mollusc is found.

The mollusk lives in water or wet places. The octopus is adapted to the exclusively marine life, and the snail is terrestrial, one thus finds some everywhere in the world.

Some molluscs produce one or more limestone patches, located on the dorsal part. Others do not have a shell, like octopus.

Depending on the species, the production of limestone makes it possible to produce the protective plates. The number of plates varies, one for the snail, two for the oyster, eight for a chiton.

Aquatic mollusks use gills, but a terrestrial mollusc, like the snail, will naturally be pulmonated. They have renewable teeth to eat plants or prey.

The diet of the mollusk still depends on the species of the animal. The snail is vegetarian, but the octopus is carnivorous because it has tentacles with suction cups to capture prey.

So the mollusc is an animal hard enough to identify, but in general they have a soft body, sometimes protected by a shell, sometimes with tentacles.
