After decades of war and a recent economic takeoff, the drawbacks that the visitor encounters - the country's poor infrastructure, its bureaucratic weight and the swarm of merchants invading the smallest tourist site - are quickly disappearing in front of the splendor of the landscape, the irresistible charm of a people and its culture. Only a few vestiges recall the war. Stigmas and memorials are now part of tourist attractions. The conflict, completed in 1975, is a thing of the past, and the painful recollections that it evokes do not fade in front of the bright sun that splashes a coast lined with white sand and bathed in clear blue water, or in front of the veil of fog which nimbus forested mountains rich of abundant fauna.

Northern Vietnam is anchored around Hanoi, a seductive city whose old villas and facades of the colonial era create a unique atmosphere. To the east, the Red River Delta, a vast expanse bordered by the Gulf of Tonkin and its famous Halong Bay, erupts. Beyond these plains, the cooler, mountainous mountainous regions mark the border with Laos to the west and China to the north.

Further south, the territory narrows, giving way to a succession of tropical provinces, facing the warm waters of the South China Sea. The past catches up travelers in the old imperial city of Hue, then to Hoi An and the lands of the ancient kingdom of Champa, where the remains of the temples and shrines are so many vibrant testimonies of the invasion by the Viet people of North. Along the coast stretch sandy beaches licked by an aquamarine sea.

After Dalat, perched on the scenic highlands of the South, Ho Chi Minh City buzzes with activity, like a hive where traders, businessmen and other city dwellers are busy. Finally, the south of the country consists of agricultural plains forming the Mekong Delta, national parks, beaches and idyllic islands.
