Asian hornet
Asian hornet
Highly publicized in recent years, the Asian hornet
is a real threat to our common bees, which it decimates little by little.
Recognizable by its black abdomen and its slightly orange head, the Asian
Hornet also has the tips of its yellow legs and is much smaller and livelier
than its European alter ego. Invasive species, the Asian hornet was
accidentally introduced in France in 2004, through Chinese pottery, delivered
to a horticulturist. Although painful, the bite of the Asian hornet is no more
dangerous than another hornet, but requires special attention for people
allergic to bites of Hymenoptera.
