Thirty-four towers - distributors in six groups - including the three famous Kuwait Towers, a tourist landmark in the UAE, have been operating since 1965 as part of an agreement between the Government of Kuwait and VBB (now known as Sweco). The first five groups - thirty-one towers - were characterized by their traditional mushroom-like style, which, in addition to their basic function of storing drinking water and providing it to the residents of Kuwait City, plays an important role as key landmarks in the city; however, the story of the sixth group is slightly different.
