Living in groups of up to 100 individuals, the
chimpanzee is a sociable animal that has 98% of genes identical to that of
humans. Capable of using more than 68 different tools, the chimpanzee is one of
the rare animals to have traveled in space! Frequenting wooded savannahs, like
tropical forests, the chimpanzee, which differs from Bonobo in its more massive
silhouette, and its lighter face, also has larger ears than its cousin.
Summarily building a nest in the trees to spend the night, the chimpanzee, very
male dominated character, can adopt violent behavior, but also knows how to
show a lot of compassion for his, especially in the youngest, but also in case
of death of these congeners. Studied now, for more than 40 years by the famous
primatologist, Jane Goodall, the behavior of the chimpanzee certainly still has
much to teach us in the years to come.
