Useful animals
and insects
Animals and
insects are everywhere around us and are necessary to the food chain. They all
ultimately have a purpose and it is to end up feeding another animal. But some
are useful for nature or for man directly or indirectly.
Pets are a good
example of useful animals. The horse and the oxen were used to plow the fields
and clear the soil. The cows give the milk and hens the eggs that serve a part
of our diet and of course are useful and even necessary. Just remove the eggs
and eliminate a lot of recipes that can not be cooked.
Other animals are
useful without pets. The seagull is a bird that eats everything it sees. She
eats everything that can be eaten that humans throw everywhere and helps clean
up some of the pollution we generate.
Some insects are
very useful as the spider, the praying mantis because they devour huge amounts
of insects which helps to control their numbers. The ladybug is carnivorous and
eats aphids that attack our flowers and other small pests. The bee is the
producer of honey and beeswax, it helps the pollination of flowers.
Earthworms are
important for the soil because they eat bacteria and other nutrients that are
in the soil and their excrement enriches the soil. The tunnels they make in the
soil help to aerate and irrigate when it rains.
Some aquatic
animals are useful for their environment such as carp, which eats everything on
the bottom of the water and thus eliminates excrement and other refuse from the
sea floor.
The majority of
animals have a place and a utility in the animal kingdom. Mosquitoes are
irritating to us, but they feed a lot of animals that would not survive without
the food they provide for them. If the mosquitoes are missing, there is less
food and so there will be fewer frogs for example. Fewer frogs means fewer
animals that eat frogs and therefore less of those who eat their animals ...
and all this affects and influences the entire animal kingdom.
Some pets like
the cat have more than a utility like chasing rats, mice and other rodents,
they are pets. The pet often has a therapeutic effect on the owners as they
break the monotony and often become a member of the family. Children like to
have a hamster or a gerbil to take care of them or play.
Animals are all
useful in their own way for other species, for the environment or for the
balance of the food chain. Before using pesticides, traps or other means to
eliminate them, the use of an insect repellent or animal, can help you away
animals that you consider harmful, but are often useful and even necessary for
good other animals.
