The beetle goes through all stages, egg, larva, nymph
and adult insect
The Coleoptera, because of their large number, or
300,000 species, represent one-third of the order of insects. Look at the page
to identify a beetle.
These insects inhabit the whole surface of the globe
and in the most different places. A large part of the beetles are vegetarians
and feed on flowers, fruits and leaves, roots ... On the other hand, others are
insectivorous and carnivorous.
We recognize a beetle with its hard wings that
meet in
the middle of the back, like the ladybug, and called elytra. This membrane
serves to protect the second pair of wings that serves to fly. In some of these
insects, only the male has wings.
The progression of its development starts from the
egg, becomes the larva, then changes into nymph and finally becomes the complete
adult insect. This metamorphosis goes from a few weeks to several years
depending on the species.
Some beetles are undesirable, like the Dermeste that
destroys carpets and clothes. It is often the coleopteran larva that is the
most destructive.

The size varies according to the insect, which can be
tiny, or of a surprising size as the "rhinoceros", which measures 2-4
cm, or the "Hercules of the Antilles" which is about 15 cm.
Some, like the cockroach, whose larva feeds on the
roots of plants, become harmful when they attack the lawn or vegetable garden.
However, these insects rarely pose a danger to humans, but sometimes attack
crops. The Colorado potato beetle loves potato plants, the leaf beetle eats
lily leaves.
However, others, such as ladybugs, eat aphids and
other small insect pests, which makes them useful. Like most insects, beetles
can be both useful and harmful, depending on the species.
