No one doubts the remarkable deterioration of the school and
no one opposes the fact that the school of today is not the same as that of
yesterday. The gap continues to grow! Education, being under the responsibility
of the State, is supposed to prepare the younger generation for a better
future. But does she do it again?
Students succeeding in their schooling by focusing only on
the happiness of the grade obtained, and the average at the end of the year,
allowing them to move to higher class. Instead of looking for knowledge or even
personal development. It's the height of ridicule.
But what are our students really worth?
It remains to be seen whether the fault lies with the courses
offered, which are not up to their expectations, or if it is the environment
that is not favorable to them (classrooms infected and narrow, lack of infrastructure,
lack Recreation..).
The decadence of the education system in the public sector is
constantly pushing parents to turn to the private sector. The latter, although
not the better off, seduced more and more parents willing to sacrifice exorbitant
amounts to register their children.
Finally, we find ourselves in a two-tiered educational system
that gives rise to a kind of "social discrimination" in hiring, once
students have left school for the world of employment.
CARTABLES AND BAGS
In the mid 70's, when I was in primary school, we all had
leather (or imitation) school bags of different colors, they had metal
double-clasps (what could I get stuck in? fingers in those damn clasps!).
There was no canvas bag or backpack at the time.
The awesome detail: Pif's hand on the granddaughter's
schoolbag!
Some had TV or comic characters on their school bags. I was
lucky enough to have a red Goldorak binder, I loved it! Unfortunately I have no
picture of me with this wonderful bag and I have not kept it.
Many other characters were treated to a schoolbag, from Rémi
to Captain Flam to Heidi and Casimir.
There was of course the famous Tann's schoolbags and their
unforgettable slogan "T'as your tann's" in the cult ad of 1980 that
has remained 5 years on our screens. To see HERE.
They were expensive and I thought it was a little too
"good family", I never wanted to have one.
Penelope's little sister in "La Boum" wears a
Tann's on the back in the film.
When I was in college, girls' fashion was to have large
shoulder bags branded with the names of youth clothing brands: Pantashop or C17
for example.
There was also the fashion of straw shopping bags with large
shoulder straps. I do not know if these modes were valid everywhere in France
or just in Angoulême, I'm waiting for testimonials!
And of course there was then the tidal wave of U.S canvas
bags, khaki, beige or black, which could be personalized with badges and
markings. I had a black one.
I think there were also many luggages in the college
suitcases, metal or plastic, worn by the wrist or with a shoulder strap with
carabiners. I had a pretty purple flower, I have not used a long time, not very
practical nor roomy.
I had a wicker suitcase for school too, maybe some girls knew
like me.
KITS
I remember at primary school I was fascinated by the kits
that opened in 2 or 3 parts where all the pencils and accessories had their
places very distinct (I was already very orderly!). I had several of this type.
As for the bags, there was a whole series of kits with well
loved characters from children and teenagers.
I remember having a pretty Sarah Kay quilted bag.
In the rigid and impractical style, there has been the
fashion of wood pencil boxes of the past. There was nothing or almost nothing
there and it took up a lot of space in the bag. I remember that I had a
secondary kit to house everything that did not fit in my pen. The height!
Do you remember those kits in the shape of big pencils? I've
never had one but I found it funny!
They were often tourist objects as below for Alsace:
In the mid-80s, I had a whole series of boxes metal
hinged reformable, not very habitable unlike kits fabric but pretty and very
fashionable. There were in particular the Japanese brand Citation and Ligne
Coeur, characteristics of this era: pastel colors, hearts etc ... the Windsurf
box below is Citation brand (I come back to the end of the article) .
RULES AND COMPAS
About the noise, there were the rules in metal square
section, in version 20 or 30 cm, we had all also at the time. When they fell to
the ground, it made a noise not possible! There were several colors: silver,
blue, pink, green.
They existed in plastic too.
