Muslim scholar: Al-Khawarizmi (Algorithm) "the father of algebra"

It is about Abu Abdallah Mohammad bin Moussa al-Khawarizmi (أبو عبد الله محمد بن موسى الخوارزمي القرطبلي), a mathematician, geographer, astrologer and Muslim astronomer Persian whose writings, written in Arabic language, allowed the introduction of algebra in Europe. His life was entirely in the time of the Abbasid dynasty. He is at the origin of the words "algorithm" (which is none other than his Latinized name: "algoritmi") and "algebra" (resulting from a method and the title of one of his works) or from the use of Arabic numerals, whose diffusion in the Middle East and Europe comes from another of his books (which itself deals with Indian mathematics).
His contribution in mathematics was such that he is also nicknamed "the father of algebra", with Diophantus of Alexandria, whose work he will resume. Indeed, he was the first to systematically identify equation solving methods by classifying these equations.
Al-Khuwarizmi is considered one of the greatest Arab scholars, who have most influenced the mathematical and astronomical sciences in the world. Aldo Mieli says, to this effect: "If we look at mathematics and astronomy, we would find, from the outset, first-rate scientists, the most famous being Abu Abdullah Mohamed Ibn Musa Al-Khuwarizmi".
Scientific contributions
Al-Khuwarizmi had an undeniable contribution in mathematics, geography, astronomy and cartography, he also has writings on mechanical devices such as the astrolabe, and the sundial. In the twelfth century, his work was disseminated in Europe, which had-through Latin translations-a significant impact on progress in mathematics.

Al-Khuwarizmi is considered the founder of algebra, as an independent science of arithmetic, before being taken over by Europeans. He was, moreover, the first to use the term "jabr" to designate the science known today as algebra, a name that it retains, by its Arabic root, in all European languages. All the European words ending in "algorithm" are, in fact, related to al-Khuwarizmi. He is also the first to write about algebra. He also introduced Indian figures (known today as Arabic numerals). Among the important contributions of al-Khuwarizmi are the discovery and development of certain rules in the field of mathematics, among others, the rule of double error, the geometric method of solving unknown squares, known today as the equation of the second degree. Not to mention its publication of the first tables of sine and tangent triangles, translated to Latin in the eighteenth century.
In addition to his considerable contributions to arithmetic, al-Khuwarizmi also intervened in the astronomical field where he carried out new research studies on trigonometry and developed new astronomical tables which greatly influenced the other tables developed later by the scientists. Arabs, who have made it their reference tool and source of inspiration.

Among the other scientific contributions of al-Khuwarizmi are the improvements he has made to the geography of Ptolemy, both in terms of text and maps.
