Egrets live all over the world

The egret Garzette is the best known of the egrets. She is now considered a heron. There are egrets all over the world.

L'aigrette tricolore est un oiseau échassier de l'ordre des Pélécaniformes. Ce sont de grands oiseaux au long cou et aux longues pattes, qui leur permettent de pêcher en eau peu profonde.

Elle mesure entre 60 et 66 cm de haut, et pèse en moyenne environ 400 gr. Leurs habitats préférés sont les marais et le long des rivages.

Les petits sont nourris au nid par les deux parents pendant cinq semaines, ils tenteront ensuite leur premier vol. Les petits restent ensuite avec les parents, et apprendront à chasser en eau peu profonde... jusqu'à ce qu'ils soient autonomes.

Son nom anglais est 'Tricolored Heron' et son nom latin est Egretta tricolor.

La vie d'une aigrette tricolore a une durée d'environ 17 ans.
