The Red Sea
Introduction
The Red Sea is a sea located between North
Africa and the Middle East, and is 1,977 kilometers long and 300 kilometers
wide, and 450,000 km² long, which is roughly the size of Spain.
Red Sea
The Red Sea is connected to the ocean only
by the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait and the Gulf of Aden 29 kilometers wide, and is now
connected to the Mediterranean Sea since the breakthrough of the Suez Canal.
The Red Sea borders Djibouti, Eritrea,
Sudan, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Yemen. The Red Sea plays a very important
role for browsers: it avoids the circumvention of Africa for browsers.
Tourism and diving in the Red Sea
The Red Sea is one of the warmest seas in
the world (waters usually range between 21 and 25 ° C), and is renowned for its
exceptional beauty: the visibility remains good even at 200 meters deep ...
Because of its climate very advantageous (blue skies all year long and
temperatures ranging from hot during the winter to very hot in summer), the red
sea attracts millions of tourists each year, especially in resorts such as
Hurghada, Sharm el Sheikh or El-Gouna coming to admire the exceptional beauty
of the seabed.
Underwater landscape near Hurghada
Indeed, there are many shoals in the Red
Sea, renowned for the exuberance of underwater life that is home to it, be it
many varieties of fish or beautiful corals. The Red Sea is populated by more
than 1,000 species of invertebrates, 200 species of corals and at least 300
species of sharks.
Scuba diving in the Red Sea
The diving holds in Egypt a prominent place
with the Red Sea which offers its colors and its richness in fauna and flora.
From the stay along the side to excursions to visit ancient sites along the
side, in the Red Sea, anything is possible. To escape the sometimes too deep
sites of Hurghada, hotels were built further south to Safaga or Qseir. The
safari tents is also a good alternative with dives from the edge in uncrowded
sites.

Fun little detail on the Red Sea
Once in the Red Sea, do not be surprised if
you float better than elsewhere. Indeed, the concentration of salt in the Red
Sea is 42 per 1000 against 35 in the oceans on average because of intense
evaporation from the sea (2 meters of evaporation per year!). And as salt makes
the water more dense, the bodies float better ...
