كلام عن السعادة بالانجليزي

Happiness is not the satisfaction of all desires

It is possible to answer the idea that happiness goes through the satisfaction of desires by emphasizing that these are too varied, too many to be able to be all satisfied. There would therefore be a big gap between the multiplication of desires, especially in consumer societies, and the means to which individuals have access to satisfy them. Thus, happiness could not go through the satisfaction of all desires.

This is what Rousseau illustrates when he thinks of the difference between man in the state of nature and man in society.

Is limitation of desires a condition of happiness?

Ancient wisdoms

For the ancient wisdoms, happiness constitutes the sovereign good, that is to say the goal that must be pursued by every man.
But if happiness is the goal of existence, it must be given a definition that makes it possible to succeed in being happy. It is therefore important to determine the role of desires in this research.

Sovereign well

The highest good is the highest good, that is, the ultimate end of all human activity. He is often identified with happiness.

The epicurean solution

For Epicureans, and especially for Epicurus, the supreme good consists in an absence of trouble in the body and in the soul; we thus find the idea that happiness is a stable state. But to reach the sovereign good, it is important to do a job on his desires, in order to concern himself only with the essential desires.

Reconcile desire and happiness

The difficulty of reconciling desire with happiness may come from the fact that happiness is defined as a stable state. To define it in this way is necessarily to oppose it to the mechanics of desires, which is in permanent evolution. Now, if the satisfaction of a desire constitutes an experience of pleasure, it amounts to excluding all forms of pleasure from happiness, which is problematic.

It may be necessary to conceive happiness from a dynamic point of view.
