The
virtues of zamzam water
The water
of Zamzam is known for its miraculous virtues. It is on the one hand a remedy
against many diseases (with the will of Allah) and on the other a source of
very nutritious water.
According
to Ibn Abbas (may Allaah be pleased with him), the Prophet (peace and blessings
of Allaah be upon him) said, "The best water on earth is zamzam water.
satiate and heal. [...] "(Reported by Tabarani and authenticated by Sheikh
Albani in Sahih Targhib # 1161)

Jurisconsults
mentioned rules to observe when drinking Zamzam water. It is recommended to
drink the water of Zamzam in the following way: to mention the name of Allah,

ZAM - ZAM, A PERMANENT MIRACLE

In 1971,
an Egyptian doctor wrote in the European press a letter showing that Zam-Zam
water is not drinkable.
I
immediately thought that it was just a form of prejudice against the Muslims
and that his argument was based on an assumption: from which Ka'aba foundations
were established (at a level below sea level) and it is located in the center
of the city of Makkah, the sewage network of the city collected, through the
pipes, water and dumped in the well [sacred].
Subsequently,
the information reached King Faisal's ears and angered him. He ordered a study
to refute the provocative statement of the Egyptian doctor. He immediately
ordered the Ministry of Agriculture and Fluvial Resources to collect and send
the samples of Zam-Zam to the European laboratories to analyze the drinking or
non-drinking nature of the water.
The
Ministry then investigates the case and assigns this task to the Jeddah
desalination plant office. It was in this office that I was employed as a
desalination engineer (specialty chemistry) in the production of drinking water
from seawater. I was chosen for this assignment. At this stage of the study, I
still had no idea of the well that contained the water source.
I left for
Makkah and told the Ka'aba authorities of the purpose of my visit. They
delegated someone to give me all the help they needed.
When we
reached the source of Zam-Zam, it was hard for me to believe that a water
reservoir, no bigger than an 18-foot (5.48m) 14-foot (4.26m) pool, constituted
the source that supplies one million gallons (4.546 million liters) of water
each year to Hajj pilgrims since the respected Prophet Abraham (may peace be
upon him) centuries ago .
