Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star ("Shine, Shine, Little Star") is a popular English children's song. The lyrics are from an English poem by Jane Taylor, The Star. The poem, which has six verses, was first published in 1806 in Rhymes for the Nursery, a collection of poems by Taylor and her sister Ann (en). The melody is borrowed from the French song Ah! I will tell you, mamma, dating from 1761. This melody has been popularized by twelve variations of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who are often mistakenly attributed to the composition of the melody itself. The lyrics in English have six stanzas, but only the first is widely known.

The English lyrics come from a poem written by Jane Taylor (1783-1824) 2 and published under the title The Star in Rhymes for the Nursery '(Nursery Rhymes) by Jane and his sister Ann Taylor (1782-1866) in London in 18063:
