An earthquake or earthquake is a set of sudden shocks and deformations of the earth's crust (Earth's surface), which results from the sudden release of energy accumulated by the Earth's tectonic plate displacements.

Devastating Tsunami in Japan - March 2011

A record earthquake caused a tidal wave on the Japanese coast, which destroyed everything.

A very violent 8.9 magnitude earthquake occurred Friday off the northeast coast. Initially estimated at 7.9, the initial earthquake, which occurred at 14:46 (6:46 am in Paris) at a depth of 24.4 km 130 kilometers east of Sendai, on Honshu Island, was felt as far away as Beijing, 2,500 kilometers to the west, and was followed by aftershocks. A devastating tsunami swept through the land, killing many people.

According to a provisional report prepared by the police, 351 dead and 547 missing persons have been identified. However, according to the Kyodo news agency, there are "probably more than 1,000 deaths". On a beach near Sendai, 200 to 300 bodies were found, while a boat carrying 100 people disappeared. Two trains are also missing since the passage of the wave. Also in Sendai, a strong explosion hit a petrochemical complex. Images broadcast on television showed huge flames devastating the installation. The media evokes many wounded throughout the archipelago. A dam broke in Fukushima Prefecture (Northeast) and houses were washed away, Kyodo news agency reported.
