Françoise Sagan, whose real name is Françoise Quoirez, was born in Cajarc, in the Lot.
Her career as a woman of Letters began in 1954 with the publication of Hello sadness. This novel, by explicitly addressing female sexuality with a casual and biting style, provokes a real scandal. Rewarded the same year by the price of Critics, it becomes the emblem of all the generation of post-war and propels its author to the front of the literary scene.
His work now includes thirty novels among which we can quote Love Brahms ..., published in 1959 and brought to the screen in 1963 by Anatole Litvak, The wonderful clouds (1973), An immobile storm (1983) ), The evasions (1991) or The lost mirror (1996).
Nouvelliste and playwright, Françoise Sagan has written a dozen plays and a biography of Sarah Bernhardt published in 1987. This great figure of the French cultural scene also wrote the screenplay of Claude Chabrol's Landru.
Passionate about motorsport, the author of Bonjour Tristesse has resided for many years in Honfleur. In 1985, she received for all of her work, the nineteenth prize of the Prince Pierre de Monaco Foundation.
Françoise Sagan passed away on September 24, 2004 at the age of 69.
