THIS IS THE 2017 CLASSIFICATION OF INSURANCE COMPANIES IN MOROCCO
Wafa Assurance holds the largest share of the premium market issued in 2017, followed by RMA Insurance, according to the latest figures published by the Moroccan Federation of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies (FMSAR).
The Insurance and Social Security Supervisory Authority (Acaps) has just published the preliminary situation of the insurance sector for the year 2017. This shows a total turnover of 40.65 billion dirhams, against 37.26 billion dirhams in 2016, an increase of 9.1%.
In 2017, issuance amounted to 10.9%, thus achieving 38.73 billion dirhams compared to 34.91 billion dirhams a year earlier. It is distributed as follows:
- life and capitalization operations: 16.98 billion dirhams against 14.29 billion in 2016, an increase of 18.8%;
- non-life operations: MAD 21.75 billion (53.5% of total sales) compared to 20.62 billion MAD in 2016, an increase of 5.5%;
Unlike the ACAPS report, that of the Moroccan Federation of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies (FMSAR) discloses the distribution in market share of premiums issued by insurance companies in 2017.
