DISCOVER SHOPPING FESTIVALS

Dubai is the most "old". It was created in 1996. It takes place every year from the end of December to the beginning of February. It was originally a bargain fair (gold, electronics and luxury goods), along with lotteries for gifts such as cars. It has become a big festive rendezvous, enlivened with concerts and parades. That the fans of the shops are reassured, balances have not disappeared. In Abu Dhabi, the shopping festival dates back to 1998. It's happening in March (all month). More "traditional" than Dubai, it allows to offer the high-end (jewelry, perfume bottles, leather goods and decorative items) at very attractive prices.

With a hundred shopping malls, major brand stores and souks in abundance, Dubai has become in a few years a world-renowned shopping destination.

The city also has one of the largest shopping centers on the planet: the Dubai Mall and its 1,200 shops. Expect to do more than just shopping! You can actually watch a movie, skate and even swim with sharks in the largest indoor aquarium in the world! Sensational !

In terms of commercial space, the Dubai Mall is hot on the heels of the Mall of the Emirates, which is among other places Ski Dubai. There is also the Magic Planet Children's Entertainment Center and major retailers such as Zara, H & M, Marks & Spencer and Harvey Nichols.

Among the most famous shopping malls, there is also the Ibn Battuta Mall, whose name is derived from a Moroccan explorer and decorations inspired by his travels around the world, each of six aisles representing a region (Andalusia, Tunisia, Egypt, Persia, India and China).

The Mercato Mall stands out for its decor straight out of the Italian Renaissance. You will find international brands like Laura Ashley or Jack Wills, but also excellent ice cream parlors and chocolatiers for a gourmet break.

Fashion buffs meet at the Burjuman Center, where luxury brands line the aisles. Dior, Prada, Hermès and Louis Vuitton - among others - are present.

One can also mention the Dubai Marina Mall by the sea or the WAFI Mall and its architecture from ancient Egypt.

To tell you, there is even a shopping festival, the Dubai Shopping Festival, which takes place every year and which testifies to the central place that occupies this activity in the life of Dubai.

Souks and independent boutiques

If there are many chains of stores in Dubai, there are also independent shops selling unique seams of local and international designers. For the biggest shopping fans, here are some good multi-brand addresses: Shop 1, Studio 8, Garderobe, Countertop 102, O-Concept, The Odd Piece, Symphony, Rivaage, Ginger & Lace.

Are you rather "old-fashioned markets"? Take a tour of Old Dubai (neighborhoods of Deira and Bur Dubai) and discover the wonderful souks it abounds.

Awaken your senses by breathing the scents of Souk perfumes, touching the fabrics of the Textile Souk and marveling at jewels and precious metals of the Souk of gold.

If you go to Dubai during the Ramadan period, you can go to the Ramadan Night Market and take part in the celebrations related to this event.
