The job of
journalist is divided into several phases. First, he gathers the information he
needs to deal with his subject. For this, he can implement several means:
investigation, interview, documentary research, dispatches ... He then
cross-checks the information obtained to verify that the information he is
about to transmit is accurate.
When in possession
of the data he needs, he prioritizes and analyzes them in order to make them
accessible and understandable by the public to whom he is going. This audience
may be readers, but also listeners, internet users or viewers.
The contents he
creates are varied: written interviews, briefs, background files, video reports
... Moreover, there are several types of journalist, depending on the activity
he practices. The editor writes articles of the press, the columnist is
specialized in a particular field (cinema, music, design, gardening ...), the
editorialist writes opinion tickets and the reporter is a journalist of field
in charge of informing on news events.
Journalists can also
be found in other functions: editorial secretary, proofreader, presenter,
photographer ...
Qualities
The journalist must
have multiple qualities, beyond the editorial skills inseparable from his
function. He is a very curious person and feels the constant need to deepen the
subject he is interested in, to gather as much information as possible. It is
also endowed with an excellent general culture.
His responsiveness
allows him to efficiently obtain the data he needs, asking the right questions
and being present at the right time in the right place.
Finally, he is
conscientious and tries to check the information he has before distributing it.
What is this job?

news presenter ... The job of journalist is dreaming, but is not easy to
access. To exercise it requires a solid general culture, very good editorial
skills, a critical mind ... Contrary to what one might think, journalists go on
the field very little (lack of time, means. ..). They rework the information
they collect on the Web, produce thematic files or conduct telephone interviews.
Always on the
lookout for any information, the journalist knows how to listen to his
interlocutors and accurately transcribe their comments. It shows a great
reactivity, because the news does not wait. He does not hesitate to work
evenings or weekends to cover local or global events. Throughout his career, he
takes care to expand his address book, a valuable tool that allows him to
quickly contact the right person in the right place.
To practice this
profession, you must have several strings to his bow and master various
techniques: writing, but also photography and video.
Most journalists
work for the print media. Most often you start with the status of freelancer
(production of articles on order for one or more newspapers).

the journalist must accomplish several missions in order to transmit reliable
