Its virtues:
It offered a living
image of the scholar and worshiper who
conformed to the
virtues of the Prophet Salla-llah allahi wa salam, which translated into
reality what was in
the Koran.
He was known for his
clemency, his patience and serenity. People were gathering around
from him where they
found him, overwhelming him with questions and requests, and he listened
attentively
each of them, to the
extent that the plaintiff thought that he had been entitled to benevolence and
special attention. He
made a lot of effort on his soul and used to support people
and to contain his
resentment, taking as an example the guide of humanity (Muhammad Salla-llah
allahi wa salam).
The school whose teaching he
adopted:
He followed the
scriptural proofs all the time. This
can be easily seen in
his explanation of the case law "zad al-
mustaqna '>>,
although the majority of the theses that he had made prevail were consistent
with those
adopted by the shaykh
of Islam Ibn Taymiyyah and his pupil [Ibn al-Qayyim], but sometimes he was
disagree with each
other when he had arguments that refuted theirs. He had the habit
to say a word that
was worth gold: << Before adopting an opinion, first look for the
arguments
who support it. As
for adopting an opinion from the beginning and then trying to find the
arguments
of its merits, it's
really misguidance. "
His pedagogy:
He often insisted on
learning the basic texts
-mutûn-. He
recommended his students to memorize them and he
tested each lesson.
He displayed his intellectual faculties in the
exegesis, the
verification of jurisprudential issues and set out the most important thesis
solid among those of
scientists, while stripping off passion. Same
He listened
attentively to his pupils' remarks and their objections.
During his
explanations, he liked to talk and made assumptions that he
subsequently
demonstrated after hearing the answers from his students.
King Faysal Prize:
In 1414 AH, the jury
responsible for offering the prize
King Faysal World
Council has decided to reward him for the services he has rendered
for the cause of
Islam and Muslims.
His last illness:
He was diagnosed with
colon cancer. In front of the insistence
representatives of
the authority of the Kingdom, the shaykh departed to the United States in
a plane specially
reserved by his royal highness, to establish a diagnosis.
These relatives said
that when the American medical team had proposed
the radiation
treatment and explained to him that this would cause the fall of
hair, he asked them,
"Will the hairs of my beard fall
also ? >> They
answered: << Yes >> He said: << No, I do not want
to meet my Lord
without a beard >> He returned to the Kingdom and was introduced
at King Faisal
Hospital, which he left on the 9th of Ramadan, to go to
sanctuary of the
sacred mosque, in which it was arranged a room near
of the so-called
"Bâb al umra" door. Through speakers, he dispensed
courses daily and
answered questions, but he was no longer receiving
no one. He returned
to the hospital for medical assistance. After
a period of
improvement, his condition worsened and he ends up rendering the soul - may
Allah
give him mercy.
His death :
At six o'clock,
prayer time
evening -maghrib-,
wednesday 15th of the month of dhu-l-qi'da (11th month of
the Arab year) 1421
AH, in the King Faysal Hospital in Jeddah,
allah resumed
his deposit and the soul of the shaykh al-'Uthaymin returned to
His Creator, after a
life full of sacrifice that lasted seventy-four
years and eighteen days.
