The egg contains the embryo that will develop into a young animal

The egg is the means that many animal species, mainly oviparous and ovoviviparous animals, use as a means to carry out their reproduction.

The fertilized egg will hatch after a lapse of time, determined by the species of animal that laid it, to produce a young individual similar to the parents.
Birds are naturally animals that we know well that lay eggs, but reptiles, fish, insects ... well, almost all animals except mammals lay eggs. The platypus is the only exception.

The egg is actually an envelope, often made of a rigid limestone shell, like chicken eggs. But it can be semi-rigid or even soft, as for reptiles.

It is composed of a protective shell that bathes in the white, made of albumin, and the yellow that serves as food throughout its evolution until hatching.

Depending on the species, as for birds, the egg must be incubated and kept warm throughout its development. This is why the female, or both parents, will sit on the nest and hatch to keep the eggs at the right temperature.

As the embryo develops, it uses the liquids contained in the egg until it is ready for hatching. At this moment, the little one will pierce the shell of the egg to get out, usually completely formed, but immature.

Some animals, like turtles, lay their eggs in the ground, bury them, and then leave. The eggs are placed at a place that will have the right temperature, and they develop just like other oviparous animals, except that they are not protected by the parents.

In insects, the egg is the first stage of several metamorphoses that will produce the adult insect. Once mature, the egg gives a larva that will continue to develop into a nymph ... and finally into an insect.

Ovoviviparous animals produce eggs that develop on their own, but they are not laid to grow outside the parent's body. Seahorses are one example where the female lays the eggs and gives them to the male who will wear them and protect them for the time they hatch.

Eggs are very important for today's food and cooking. Those who are consumed are not fertilized, and are used exclusively for our consumption. The hen lays constantly until she has eggs to hatch, and one only has to take them to produce others.
