reasons to love London
There are a thousand reasons to love London. Here is my list of the
top 10, which may well prompt you to jump in the next plane (or train) leaving
for this great capital.
1. IT'S A GIGANTIC CITY!
Even if you explore her for the rest of your life, she would never
stop surprising you. From Camden to Kensington, the various parts of London
have personalities of their own, but all of them cultivate the dynamic
lifestyle, dear to Big Smoke.
2. THE WHOLE WORLD IS REPRESENTED
London, as cosmopolitan as it is British, attracts people from all
over the world. This diversity has made London a city of infinite
possibilities. See a movie in a French cinema? No problem. Go brunch in a
Scandinavian bakery or dine in an authentic Mongolian restaurant? Make your
choice. It is not only in culinary matters that London takes advantage of its
many riches. Over the years, this diversity has helped to stimulate a strong
creativity, thus establishing the capital as an international leader in a multitude
of areas.
3. IT CELEBRATES CREATIVITY
London has been the center of attraction for creative minds for
centuries. From William Shakespeare to Jimi Hendrix, to J.K. Rowling, London
has always inspired the greatest masters of the art world. The city always
attracts the best talents from the music, art and theater scene as well as the
greatest comedians and contemporary writers. Countless works of fiction have
highlighted the streets of London and it is still the case today. The actions
of novels such as Sherlock Holmes, Harry Potter or Mary Poppins all have in
common to take place in this city.
4. MUSIC IS EVERYWHERE
London vibrates to the rhythm of its own soundtrack. From Ed
Sheeran to Adele, to the Beatles and Rolling Stones, the UK has produced
countless artists who have shaped the international music scene. You'll have
the opportunity to cheer on a different artist every night of the week, from 02
Arena superstars to independent rockers at the iconic Brixton Academy to new
bands at Camden. In summer, the city hosts a number of music festivals,
including the British Summer Time festival in Hyde Park and the Wireless in
Finsbury Park are the two best known.
5. IT HAS A LEGENDARY NIGHTLIFE LIFE
In London, no two nights are alike. You can watch a haunting
musical in the West End or see some of the biggest names in Hollywood bursting
the screen of the big theaters at Leicester Square. You can explore the
trendiest bars and restaurants that flourish in East London, sample the charms
of London's legendary clubs, or sing along to one of London's hottest new bands
in Soho. in Shoreditch.
6. THE LOCAL KITCHEN HAS NOT ENDED YOU
British cuisine may be prone to many jokes, but you'll be
pleasantly surprised by the gastronomic treasures London has to offer. Chic
restaurants, delicious street food (see our list here) and experimental dishes
served in original settings all contribute to the success of the ever-changing
global cuisine represented in London. This does not mean that you will not be
able to enjoy a classic English breakfast or a Sunday roast - not recommended
for calorie outfitters - just go to a traditional cafe or gourmet pub to savor
a British specialty!
7. AND YOU WILL BE A UNCONDITIONAL SPORTS FAN
Although it is the cradle of some of the biggest clubs in the
world, the city of London not only excels in football. The Wembley Stadium
hosts national football matches as well as the NFL, with which it fills its
90,000 seats. In London, the 2012 Olympic Games have also left a lasting
legacy: get your best towel and walk in Michael Phelps' footsteps, go for a
swim in the Stratford Pool or, if you have the courage , go take the big jump
from the top of the diving boards crushed by Tom Daley. The British are crazy
about sports and their participation in national events is no longer about
spending the day in front of a tennis match at Wimbledon, a rugby match at
Twickenham or trying to understand the cricket rules at the Lord's.
8. THIS IS THE CITY OF RESIDENCE OF THE ROYAL FAMILY
You've probably heard about the British royal family, because it's
a real institution in the UK and especially in London, where royal appearances
never go unnoticed. Stroll along The Mall - the famous tree-lined avenue that
leads to Buckingham Palace. Here, you can attend, with great fanfare, the
traditional ceremony of the Changing of the guard. From Buckingham Palace, you
can cross Hyde Park to Kensington Palace, where you may get a glimpse of the
Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as well as Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
9. LIFE IS LESS EXPENSIVE THAN YOU BELIEVE
In London, there's no need to break your bank - just know the right
places and always have our list of tips at your fingertips. The numerous and
famous museums of the city - ideal for rainy days - perfectly illustrate this
point, since they are free. The National Portrait Gallery and Tate Britain are
home to renowned collections of classical art, while Tate Modern is a world
pioneer in modern art. Take a trip back in time to the British Museum and the
National History Museum without paying a cent. When the weather is nice,
exploring the city's markets - all different in size and size, with stalls full
of strange and wonderful products - is a great way to discover London. In the
evening, you can choose between free concerts and stand-up shows throughout the
city.
10. THE PARKS ARE REALLY ZEN
If it is true that London moves at a thousand kilometers an hour,
you will have no trouble taking a step back, the time for a well deserved break
well away from its frantic pace. The parks of the city, just like the city
itself, are full of surprises; they are home to zoos, open-air theaters and
swimming pools. Outdoor dining in one of the eight Royal Parks, cycling to
Holland Park to relax in Kyoto Gardens or taking a picture of the skyline from
Greenwich Park or Primrose Hill are all pleasures that reveal a softer aspect
of London. no less exciting, especially during the summer months.
