Amphibian animals are now amphibians

The amphibians, now named amphibians, the most known are frogs, toads, salamanders ... they are not reptiles. In fact, amphibians existed before reptiles. Reptiles come from a branch of prehistoric amphibians. They are amphibians, so they can live in the water and on the land, but there are exceptions.

One of the differences between amphibians and reptiles is their skin and the lack of claws in the amphibian. The skin of reptiles is made of scales, but the skin of a batrachian is smooth. The amphibians have a permeable skin that lets liquids and air through, so they need a moist environment to not dry. Since they breathe and exchange fluids easily through the skin, they are more affected by pollution.
For reproduction, the majority of amphibians lay their eggs in the water. The eggs are gelatinous but have no shell like that of reptiles and can not withstand the terrestrial environment unless it is very wet, or laid under the ground.

The amphibians can be oviparous, viviparous and ovoviviparous which means that some lay eggs, some give small well trained or they can have small formed in an envelope a bit like an egg. The sudden majority of important metamorphoses, such as the tadpole, and others more minor.

A batrachian is a cold-blooded animal, so it is influenced by temperature and its slowed metabolism when it becomes colder. Frogs often spend the winter under a rock or a dead branch, its metabolism very slow, then resumes its activities when spring arrives.

The amphibians feed on insects and other animals smaller than themselves. Many have a very long tongue that they use to catch their prey from a good distance, which makes feeding easier.
