• 200,000 deaths of children under 5 due to malaria could be prevented by acting on the environment, for example by reducing the number of mosquito breeding sites or by covering drinking water reservoirs.

• 200,000 children under 5 die from accidental environmental injuries (poisoning, dropping and drowning).
