It has always been a society of open-mindedness, but seeking by all means to remain intact in relation to foreign civilizations that have, throughout history, tried to conquer it. He adds: "For the elderly, evolution is synonymous with perdition, insecurity, depravity, and in the young the tradition is perceived as alienating and depersonalizing. Moroccan society is going through real economic and ideological upheavals. The new models of identity are contradictory with the old ones. Note that the Moroccan family has evolved a lot. Inter-family co-operation has been strengthened to the detriment of the family unit, which is entirely dependent on the husband.
Under the influence of the cultural changes that have affected the country in contact with Western culture, the family is changing in both composition and organization. The condominium neighborhood is now regulated to a point that the occupants of the apartments no longer recognize themselves. This bond of solidarity between neighbors that once characterized their daily relationships has completely disappeared. Souad, housewife, explains: "Since I live in this house, I do not know my neighbors. One day, wanting to visit me, my father had made a mistake. The woman opposite told her that she did not know anyone. I remember that as a child I knew all our neighbors. I even spent the night with some of them. Today, it's almost impossible for my son or daughter to spend the night at my neighbor's house. " In the street, the change in Moroccan society is much more perceptible than elsewhere. The tastes of young people take precedence over those of people of another generation. The clothes worn by our grandparents give way to blues jeans, T-shirts and other imported clothes.
Djellabas are worn only on various purely religious occasions. Men often dress in costumes to go to work or to attend a reception. Women prefer evening dresses instead of kaftan. Similarly, makeup in women has also changed. Yesterday still, the manicure and the pedicure were not known. Today, the woman assumes, besides the expenses of the hearth, new expenses outside working as a worker or civil servant. Nawal, company manager, says: "The image of women has changed. She is no longer submissive and dependent. The woman of today defies the man in all fields. Yesterday, our mothers were not policemen, gendarmes, pilots or ministers. Now we are everywhere and we take care of everything that can be beneficial to our society. " However, there is a questioning of traditions about marriage. The latter is increasingly the concern of couples and not those of families. Issam, 28 years old, has been married for four years, with the one who has loved him forever. He tells :
"Going through the college gives you the opportunity to make friends. It is quite possible that one of them will become my wife one day. As far as I'm concerned, I knew my wife at work. Both of us agreed not to do any ceremonial and save our money to furnish our apartment. Something that was almost impossible at the time my father married my mother. For example, marriage based on mutual aid and agreement is outweighing other forms of marriage. The woman works outside and the man is no longer considered the protector of the family and the tribe. As a result, many young people are reluctant to converse early, which leads them to coexist more with their parents.
But, marriage in Morocco is always celebrated following a ceremonial drawing its sources from ancestral traditions. If the celebration of this event remains, broadly speaking, more or less identical in the different regions of the Kingdom, it varies according to the regions and highlights the cultural diversity that is manifested, in particular, by different rituals (Costumes, rites , music, culinary traditions etc ...). These local peculiarities and authenticity are preserved and perpetuated from generation to generation. However, in some parts of Morocco, the marriage ceremony has undergone changes resulting from city life and the adoption of a modern way of life.
The custom of the offering (the herd), for example, still exists in all social classes
