The traditional Moroccan marriage is anchored in rich and varied ancient traditions. Depending on the region of Morocco where the wedding will take place, there will be local specificities such as traditional clothing, rites, music or culinary specialties.

Before their union, each family must agree on the amount of the dowry as well as on the terms of the marriage contract. Couples wishing to unite in Morocco must go through a religious wedding in the presence of the Adoul. The betrothal or "khetba" is the period before marriage.

Traditional rituals
The Hammam
Before the wedding, the passage to the hammam is an obligatory step for the future bride who will be accompanied by women who are close to her. It is a purifying milk bath that has a high symbolic value, supposed to purify and bring happiness to the bride.

The "Berza"
Dressed in her traditional ceremonial dress, the "berza" consists of presenting the bride to the guests, she is installed to be visible by all the guests on the wedding day.

The "Hdia"
The groom's family sends gifts to the bride such as fabrics to make traditional clothes, jewelry, sugar, dates, milk and henna. Some of these gifts have a symbolic value, sugar for a happy life, or milk for purity.
