Stella Delange the narrator, unloved daughter of a couple of cafeers Montreuil, published a novel that is a huge success; his "character" is inspired by his older sister, the sweet, the beautiful, the perfect Melanie, a young teacher in a kindergarten tragically fate: she was crushed by a truck trying to save a small child.
The cinema is immediately interested in the novel.
Trained in a cynical environment dominated by money and false glories, Stella feels more than ever that she exists through the sublimated image of her dead sister. His absolute passion for the film's producer, his friendship for Wanda, the star embodying Melanie, his life suddenly connected to a fake luxury deepen in her the abominable feeling of her addiction and loneliness.
These facts - purely realistic in appearance - are transfigured by a fury of bitter folly, dark, desperate, but bursting with cruel humor. Painting social circles, great restaurants, a weekend "work" in Saint-Tropez or the opposite of a calamitous Eve in Montreuil, is as funny as fierce.
Beyond, the author shows us that men and women are prisoners of their past to the point of spoiling what could have been present happiness. Stella and the one she calls the Capitalist love each other for good. But they never manage to overcome misunderstandings, suspicion, silence.
