Animals of the primate family

The man is one of the primates

Primates are mammals, including monkeys and anthropoids, which inhabit tropical and subtropical forests. The man is part of the group of primates.

One of the peculiarities of a primate that distinguishes it from other animals is that it has hands with 5 fingers whose thumb is opposable to the other four fingers. The thumb can grab or hold objects and hold them. He has no claws but flat nails, which are not really a good defense.

The genital tract and mating are similar to that of the human, both in the male and in the female. The duration of gestation is long, 5 to 9 months depending on the species and gives birth to only one small at a time. The newborn remains several years with his mother to perfect his education.

In the wild, they do not have effective defenses against a tiger or other aggressive predator. They run away more often than anything else. A primate is covered with hair, like any mammalian animal, but it is not a thick fur that protects it from the cold weather. They are omnivorous animals because their food consists of as much fruit as insects and other small animals that they can capture.

In nature, some species live in groups of several individuals of which one male is dominant. The Primate is the animal that comes closest to the man except that it is primitive.
