Bahla Fort in detail
Bahla Fort

Bahla Fort is a building located in Oman. The Sultanate of Oman is a country located in the Middle East, south of the Arabian Peninsula. This little-known country is surrounded by Yemen, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The Sultanate of Oman has been a monarchy since the middle of the 18th century. Its economy depends mainly on its resources generated by the extraction and sale of oil. In antiquity this sultanate was known as Magan or Makkan.
A little history

This horn-shaped country stretching towards Iran has been occupied since the 3rd millennium BC. Until 630, Oman belongs to the Persian empire, then Islam will prevail, a first Iman is named and Ibadism is established. Only then did the history of Oman really begin. The Portuguese then occupied the country from the beginning of the 16th century to the middle of the 17th century and this was followed by the Persians for a few years. It is in 1749 that the current lineage of the sultans of Oman is founded and that it installs its capital in Muscat. After a British colonial protectorate and a violent communist insurrection, Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said is now the head of the country and has contributed to the improvement of its economy.
Description of Bahla Fort

Many forts are found in Oman, that of Bahla is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. Fort Bahla is one of four fortresses at the foot of the Jebel Akhdar (Green Mountain culminating in at 3,000 meters). The fort was built of mudstone by the Banu Nabhan people, who occupied part of the country in the 12th century. It was first listed on the heritage sites at risk because its walls collapsed each year with the rains. This UNESCO heritage listing has also ensured that no site near the fort can use modern materials to preserve the historical appearance of the site.

Ah, the Sultanate of Oman and its splendid forts dating back several centuries ...! In the past, these fortresses served as a defense, and almost every city was protected by a fort. So we see them regularly, raised in strategic places of the country, as for example in the crevasse of Simail, which drew the road between Muscat and the interior of the country. The oasis of Bahla owes its prosperity to the Banu Nabhan, who imposed themselves on other communities between the twelfth century and the end of the fifteenth century. Their power is attested by the ruins of the immense walled fort and the raw brick towers and the stone base, a remarkable example of this type of fortification
