. Discover Bahla Fort
The city of Bahla was once surrounded by
a wall of more than 12 km with 7 gates. We can see the ruins at the approach of
the city, which would be populated Djinns ... The huge earthen fort, remarkably
preserved, is a World Heritage Site by Unesco. It is the oldest in the country,
and the only fort in Oman built during the pre-Islamic period. It is riddled with
secret passages, mosque halls and other places to explore. The children will

the top, splendid views of the mountains of Jebel Akhdar can be admired. It is
particularly pleasant to walk in the alleys of the old village that adjoins the

drive from Muscat and 25 kilometers west of Nizwa, Bahla is famous for its
pottery.

Bahla
The governors of Oman, the Nabahinas
(12th-17th centuries) built Bahla Fort in the 17th century, and 12km of brick
walls of mud on pre-Islamic foundations. The site is also classified World
Heritage by UNESCO, and following this, the fort has been restored. From its
artisanal past marked by pottery, Bahla today houses only two potters working
in the neighborhood behind the Souks.
About forty kilometers from Nizwa, this
imposing fortress is the largest in Oman. Built in raw brick between the 12th
and 15th centuries, Bahla Fort is listed as World Heritage by UNESCO. Rampart
in the middle of the Omani desert, it forms a fascinating whole composed of
rounded towers and crenellated parapets, many stairs, courses on all levels, a
maze of empty rooms, alcoves, alcoves ... From the road round, the views of the
oasis around are superb. Also worth visiting is the Friday Mosque with its
richly decorated mihrab and the ruins of the souq, adjacent to the fort.
